October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and this month with Connecting the Community, 92.9 The River is spotlighting Oklahoma Project Woman! Oklahoma Project Woman provides vital breast healthcare, including mammograms, diagnostic procedures and approved surgical services to Oklahomans across the state, regardless of health insurance status. Since 1998, they have provided more than 81,500 vouchers statewide, for clients to receive mammograms and more at no cost to them. 1,008 of those clients have been diagnosed with breast cancer. Early detection matters. It’s recommended to women above 40, or anyone with a family history of breast cancer to receive a mammogram. Over 5,100 vouchers were passed out last year.
