A 9-year-old Broken Arrow boy drowned Saturday night at Lake Eufaula.

Authorities said the boy was sitting on a docked vessel's swim platform just after 8 p.m. when he attempted to stand on it and fell into the lake.

The Eufaula Fire Department removed the boy from 12-foot deep water and transported to St. Francis Hospital in Muskogee.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said the boy was not wearing a personal flotation device. He died at the hospital.
